I know that I have talked about my stint in design school a couple of times in passing on here. It was a rigorous program, and definitely made to keep people on their toes and working to the absolute limit of their potential. At the end of the program, a graphic design student was required to participate in a portfolio show, which showcases the works we had created over the years, but in actual marketable situations. It meant that not only did you have to take graphics or designs you had created it apply them to something, but you had to figure out a way to showcase it and photograph it just right so that you to impress the people who were judging you.
This design was based on a poster design I created for a class, then I shrunk down and turned into a birthday party invitation. It is very obviously Alice in Wonderland inspired, and I built a tablescape to extenuate all of the things I had created from the invitation. This included things like patterned serving trays, which you can see a little bit of in the background, and place cards. I shot the invitation with the teapot and tea cup, just to really enhance the Mad Hatter Tea Party kind of theme.
