All in a Golden Afternoon

I love to shoot orchids. Why? Because they are one of the few flowers that actually has some sort of personality attached to it. When I was young, these and snap dragons were my favorite because I thought it looked like they had little faces.

This was taken from a set of images from the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  This picture in particular always made me think of Alice in Wonderland. The bright colors and shape fall into the whimsy kind of category of Wonderland. There is also a softness to the picture that occurred naturally, that gives me a kind of dreamlike feeling, especially around the edges of the image. I feel like at any moment these orchids could animate, or start singing. How wonderful!
